It is story time

It is story time
So… it is time for a story!
“Once upon a time…”
No, this story does not begin like all the others. This tale has been told back in the ancient days. It is also being told in the present. But the way the story goes has always been one and the same.
Mommy Squirrel lifted her glasses, rubbed them with her tail, smiled and went on.
“Can you describe Mother Nature with words?”
The little squirrels looked at each other. They giggled and started whispering something.
“She is warm and playful”
“She is noisy”
“She is colourful and smells good”
“She is alive”… all of them tried to list as many words as they could.
“Yes, all of you are right” said their mother
“Now let me tell you about her. Tuck yourselves with your tails and listen.

Mother Nature has always lived in the deep forest. Her home is where no man has ever been. Only the elves and fairies of the woods know how to get there. They help everything around us to be born and to grow.
Mother Nature is a beautiful fairy. Her hair is long and shiny. When her haircolour changes, so do the seasons. The bright blond hair, covered with flowers stands for the spring, the golden one with heads of wheat and forest fruits – for the summer. The hazel hair with scent of grapes stands for the autumn, and the white, frosty silver – for the winter. This sorceress sits on her forest throne. In her hands she holds two enchanted balls. When she throws the velvet one, here comes the night. The owls fly out of the sleeves of her dress and the crickets hop up with their magical violins. When she throws the shining one, here comes the day with all the butterflies and singing birds. And this goes on and on, since the beginning of time. Every little fairy-helper has its own tasks, so that Mother Nature’s work could be easier.
Some of her helpers take care of the plants, others of the animals, the birds…

Mother Nature’s favourite helper is Acorn. He is a little snub-nosed elf with freckles and red hair. He helps all the oak trees grow the best acorns. Acorn lives under the roots of a very old oak tree, right in the middle of the Enchanted clearing. You wonder why the clearing is enchanted?! It can be found only by those, who believe in miracles. That is why the children who lived in the village near the forest often told stories about a little house, which can be found under a giant oak tree. Everybody in the village thought that the children were making this up, but they were not.
Every morning Acorn gathers the fallen acorns and makes a wonderful jam from them. If there are a lot of acorns, he shares them with the boars.
In the house of the elf there is a giant cellar. There are stored a lot of nuts, hazelnuts, acorns and briars. When the deep snow covers the land, Acorn sits in front of the fire place, drinks tea and tells stories to his forest friends.

If you walk in the woods and you believe in miracles, you will also find the Enchanted clearing and maybe drink tea with Acorn” ;-)
Mommy Squirrel got up, tucked her children with a fluffy blanket and blew the candle.
Good night!
